Assalamualaikum Warrahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,
First, I would like to take this opportunity to thank FBEPS, and its students for giving the trust in me being the Senator of FBEPS Student Council 2011/2012 Session. Our vision for the FBEPS Student Council is to promote the Faculty to the public and assist in attracting potential and talented students to become part of the FBEPS family. Our role is to administer activities for the well-being of the Faculty. We will emphasize on uniting members of the faculty and to make the best of effort to make FBEPS a better place to study, with enjoyable and better environment. In addition, we would like to market the name “FBEPS” to the public. On behalf of the FBEPS Student Council, we would like to invite all members of the faculty, including students, lecturers and administration staffs to join, cooperate, and part take in any events that we will organise in the future. We hope that we will receive an overwhelming reception from the Faculty members as well as the public. On a personal note, my dream is to have FBEPS as an international leading Faculty equipped with modern facilities and best infrastructure which produces many talented and gifted graduates, but withhold the national and societal values of the Faculty and its family-oriented environment.

Activities

Some future plans have already been discussed in FSC’s first meeting held on 14 March 2011. Activities planned include business and entrepreneurship, social, sports and religious activities.

FSC will continue the tradition of holding some of the activities that have been previously organised such as Annual General Meeting, Annual Futsal Dean’s Cup and FSC Fund Raising. Meanwhile, we will also bring in fresh new ideas such as Corporate and Business Day Look, weekly Quran recitation, Khatam Al-Quran ceremony, publishing FBEPS Year Book, sale of FBEPS merchandises, Netball tournament, visits to charity organizations, educational visits to several successful organizations. Furthermore, we plan to improve the environmental aspects of the Faculty such as cleaning campaign and planting new trees. Given sufficient support and resources from the Faculty and our capability to organize these activities, we will do our best to execute them.

ABOUT FBEPS

The Faculty of Business, Economics and Policy Studies (FBEPS) is one of the six Faculties in Universiti Brunei Darussalam. It is the second largest Faculty in UBD, in terms of the number of staff and students. At the start of the academic year 2009/2010, FBEPS started to offer a new and innovative undergraduate programme, Bachelor of Business. This new programme is designed to ensure that students are more diversified in their knowledge through the application of depth and breadth modules, and exposed to the real life experiences through the Discovery Year in their Year 3. Apart from that, FBEPS also offers a variety of graduate programmes by coursework and by research, both in full- or part-time mode. FBEPS has the highest number of graduate students compared to the other Faculties, with quite a number of international students. Recently with the introduction of the UBD Graduate Research Scholarship, FBEPS has welcomed quite a number of overseas PhD students.

Vision

To be a leading Business School in the region.

Mission

To develop future leaders through innovative teaching, first class research and active participation with the community.
